Ingredients:
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup water
- 8 oz. pasta (penne or spaghetti)
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- Grated parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
- Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned and crumbled, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add diced onions, bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened and the onions are translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add salt, black pepper, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using) to the skillet. Stir to combine.
- Add diced tomatoes (including their juices) and water to the skillet. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, until the sauce has thickened and the flavors have melded together.
- Add cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to allow the pasta to absorb some of the sauce.
