Here’s a fun and creative Halloween recipe that kids will love: “Spooky Spiderweb Pizza”

Ingredients:

  • 1 prepared pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Black olives (for spider bodies)
  • Mini pepperoni slices (for spider legs)
  • Green bell pepper (for a stem, optional)
  • Cooking spray or flour (for dusting)

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven:

  • Preheat your oven according to the pizza dough package instructions or recipe (usually around 400°F/200°C).

2. Roll out the pizza dough:

  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large circle (about 12 inches in diameter). Place it on a pizza stone or a baking sheet.

3. Spread the pizza sauce:

  • Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edge for the crust.

4. Add the cheese:

  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.

5. Create the spiderweb:

  • Using a toothpick or the handle of a spoon, draw a spiral pattern starting from the center of the pizza and working your way outwards. This will create the spiderweb effect.

6. Make the spiders:

  • Cut black olives in half lengthwise. Use one half for the body of each spider, and then cut the other half into thin strips to use as legs. Place the olive half in the center of the spiderweb.

7. Add the spider legs:

  • Arrange the olive strips radiating out from the spider’s body to create the legs. Each spider should have 8 legs.

8. Optional Pumpkin Stem:

  • If using a green bell pepper, cut a small piece for the stem and place it at the top of the pizza.

9. Add extra spiders and pepperoni slices:

  • Scatter a few additional spider bodies and mini pepperoni slices around the pizza to give it an extra playful and creepy-crawly look.

10. Bake:

  • Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven and bake according to the pizza dough package instructions or recipe, usually for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.

11. Serve:

  • Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes before slicing it into wedges. Serve with a smile and enjoy your spooky spiderweb pizza!

Optional Tips:

  • Get the kids involved in creating their own spiderweb patterns and arranging the spider bodies and legs.
  • You can customize the toppings to suit your child’s preferences or dietary needs.
  • Feel free to add extra Halloween-themed ingredients like green and orange bell peppers, or even some sliced black olives for extra spooky decorations.

Have a spook-tacular Halloween!
